Special Events
LifeStream is pleased to offer several special events each year that not only enhance social opportunities for our seniors and people with disabilities but which also provide some much-needed funding support for programming.
For example, we offer:
Aging Well Conference – This event is offered each May during Older Americans Month at the Ball State University Alumni Center in coordination with the Fisher Institute on Wellness and Gerontology and the Indiana Division of Aging. The seventh annual conference was held 9 a.m.-3 p.m. May 27 at the Ball State University Alumni Center in Muncie.

Annual Awards Luncheon – Our volunteers and those who go above and beyond to help aging adults and people with disabilities are honored each June during our annual awards luncheon. Our most recent one was June 16, 2010, at the Horizon Center in Muncie. We celebrated our 35th year of service at this event. AngelWorx volunteers were our special guests. Author/photographer Tom Casalini was the featured speaker. He is co-author of Ordinary Heroes, which chronicles Medal of Honor recipients. Caregiver Classes – Our caregiver program manager offers special classes called Powerful Tools as well as American Red Cross Caregiver classes and other educational events to help caregivers be the best they can be. Our program also sponsors monthly support groups to help caregivers. Contact our caregiver program manager for details.
Concert Featuring Carl Storie – Longtime area favorite and recording star Carl Storie returned to his hometown for a special 35th anniversary concert to benefit LifeStream Services on May 15 in Morrow's Meadow in Yorktown. Thanks to all who supported this great event, and thanks to Carl Storie for a fabulous performance. (Check out photos on our Facebook page.)
Golf Tournament – LifeStream Legends EngAGEment was held May 19, 2010, at The Players Club in Yorktown. It was a great success and we thank all those who supported the event. Plans are under way already for our 2011 outing. (Photos from the event can be found on our Facebook page.)
Nutrition Awareness Month – Each March we participate in the national Nutrition Awareness Month activities, including have a special nutrition day at all our Senior Cafes. For more information, contact our nutrition manager for det ails.
Senior Day at the Fair– LifeStream sponsors Senior Day at the Fair at several of our area fairs. These special days offer seniors an opportunity to be entertained, play bingo and enjoy special refreshments or meals. Our next Senior Day at the Fair will be held 10 a.m.-1 p.m. July 23 at the Delaware County Fair in Muncie. Senior Games – We offer competitive and non-competitive events for adults ages 50 and older each fall. The 2010 Games will be held in September. Contact our aging and disability resource center coordinator for details. The 2010 Games will get underway during opening ceremonies and a health fair on Sept. 1 at High Street United Methodist Church in Muncie. Events will continue through Sept. 18, when the first Walk Indiana will be held. The walk is a non-competitive marathon and walkers can walk a full, half or quarter marathon.
