Seniors have options when it comes to choosing where they want to live.

LifeStream partners with Quality Housing Development Inc. (QHD) in offering quality, affordable housing for adults ages 55 and up (see details below). QHD is involved in developing and managing properties for older adults and provides consulting services for both non-profit and for-profit housing groups.

LifeStream also provides information on other housing options to enable seniors and people with disabilities live life, on their terms.

Quality Housing Development (QHD):

Quality Housing Development (QHD) has been involved in developing, managing and consulting on 15 affordable housing projects since 1995. QHD is a not-for-profit Certified Housing Development Organization (CHDO).

QHD's mission is to creatively address the affordable housing needs of older adults by providing livable communities through partnership, quality and innovation. QHD operates under the core values of professionalism, compassion, integrity and commitment.

  We have developed new properties (like Pilgrim Place shown at right) and developed existing properties (such as Hoosier Place shown below) into beautiful, spacious housing for adults ages 55 and older. We welcome the opportunity to visit with communities about ehancement of existing properties or new construction in East Central Indiana.

  We currently manage Pilgrim Place in Yorktown, Portland Place in Portland, Hoosier Place in Union City and Central School Apartments in Anderson.

QHD Existing Properties (see attached address list) or read about details below):

• Pilgrim Place, which is in Yorktown, IN, is typical of the independent living apartments Quality Housing Development Inc. (QHD) has developed. The 36-unit complex, nestled amid the quiet countryside, offers one-story, roomy housing in a safe setting for those 55 and older.
• Portland Place, a similar 30-unit affordable housing complex in Jay County, was also developed by QHD. It, too, offers roomy one- and two-bedroom apartments with all major appliance and hookups for washers and dryers. Lunch is available weekdays on a donation basis for those ages 60 and up.
• Hoosier Place in Union City, IN, is a renovated former middle school that now offers 31 beautiful apartments in an environment that has retained its historic charm. As in all QHD properties, all major appliances are included, among other features. Lunch is also available weekdays.
• Central School Apartments in Anderson is also a former school that now houses 35 roomy apartments. The property includes community space, lunch available weekday and apartments include window coverings and major appliances.
• Starr Senior Apartments in Richmond is a renovated historical building featuring 67 apartments, community space and more. QHD owns the complex.
• Central Apartments in Huntington, IN, is currently under development. The former school will house apartments, community space and more. Email our CEO Kenneth D. Adkins for details.

Potential residents of QHD properties must meet income guidelines (see attached sample application for types of information needed when submitting information).

Rents, while based on several factors, are in a general range of $299 to $625 a month. QHD housing staff screens applications to make sure residents are eligible and keeps in contact with potential renters throughout the process. Call (800) 589-1121 for details and more information.

QHD has also been involved in non-profit sponsorship of family housing facilities (Heather Apartments in Anderson, Autumn Ridge in Anderson and Woods Edge in Muncie) and in Tower Apartments for seniors in Anderson.
