Our StoriesCaregiver Testimonial Donor Testimonial Staff Testimonial Caregiver Testimonial Sometimes it seems surreal to me that I am, in a sense, mothering my mom. She did everything for me when I was young, and now there are many things she cannot even do for herself. She is fiercely committed to staying in the home that she and my late father raised me in – and I can understand wanting that comfort and familiarity – but for me that means spending many hours each week helping with housework and cooking and other chores. I also run a business with my husband, and the pressures at home and work are compounded by my responsibilities with my mom.
I became exhausted and overwhelmed. I would go home at night, cry, and ask myself, "How long can you continue to do all of this alone?" Then I found LifeStream's Caregiver Support Program. Each day, a caregiver support specialist helps my mom with light housework and with managing her medication, among other things. It's easier for me to go to work knowing that my mom has a kind, well-trained individual there with her. Now, when I go to visit my mom, I spend less time getting things done and more time talking with her and enjoying her company. That means a lot to us. If you find yourself in a similar situation, I highly recommend contacting LifeStream. Donor Testimonial I've lived in Madison County my entire adult life, and have given time and money to a variety of worthy organizations over the years. I have come to value contributions LifeStream makes to our community and recently made a major gift to the organization in support of their important mission. There are a number of reasons I feel passionately about LifeStream, not the least of which is the fine care they've given my father. I also know that someday, I may need LifeStream's services and want it to be around for decades to come. Staff Testimonial Every Tuesday at 10 a.m., I drive The New InterUrban to Eaton to pick up George and take him to the grocery story. On the way we talk about the weather, his grandkids, my family … just about everything. I'm proud to be part of an organization that improves lives.
